A bomboniere is a traditional European favor. The practice of giving bombonieres originated in Italy when the families of engaged couples would exchange small packages filled with sweets as a sign of good fortune. Over time, sugar-coated almonds became the preferred sweet. Today, no celebration in Europe would be complete without one.
